AMSPAR is The Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists. It was established in 1964 with the aim of creating and promoting appropriate qualifications, initially for those working as medical secretaries and subsequently for medical receptionists, administrators and practice managers.
AMSPAR performs two functions. It is a professional membership organisation which recognises both formal qualifications and length of service in a healthcare environment. AMSPAR members currently receive special privileges and services including access to a free legal helpline, a range of professional guidelines on a wide number of healthcare and employment topics in addition to valuable work and non-work related discounts.
AMSPAR works with City & Guilds to provide a range of nationally recognised qualifications.
We are not an AMSPAR or City & Guilds accredited centre however we teach the Medical Terminology part of our "Medical Secretary Diploma" to a standard which allows our students to take the appropriate AMSPAR / C&G Medical Terminology exam at an accredited centre (we work with many across the country). Upon successfully passing that exam you will be awarded the appropriate AMSPAR qualification.
