We have a remarkable history of success – our students’ success for 40 years! Founded and established in 1984 by Penny Lewis Cert Ed who is still actively involved with the development and teaching at the College.

Initially we provided classroom based courses for local students from Devon with students from other parts of the country studying with us and staying with host families in the 90s.

As we moved into the 21st century, technology moved on enabling us to provide our courses through distance learning/home study opening up our courses to thousands of students over the years from all parts of the UK and worldwide. We were one of the first colleges to provide this.

We have been an approved centre for various awarding bodies over the years including:

RSA/OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA)
Pitman Qualifications – where 2 of our students received a national award in consecutive years presented by the Secretary of State for Education at the Houses of Parliament
AMSPAR – Medical Terminology
NCFE – currently accrediting our qualifications

We are inspected by NCFE every year to ensure standards are maintained across the full range of criteria set out by the awarding body. Each year we have been awarded Excellent – so you know you will be studying with a professional, independent college with a long history in education.

The Medical Secretary diploma takes you through a wide range of topics from Spreadsheets, Power point presentations, Professional working relations to Medical terminology, everything a Medical Secretary would need to know and more. The Modules are very detailed and take you through the lessons step by step, so they are suitable for completer beginners, as well as for those with some previous experience.
My tutors were Jen, Rebecca and Simon. They were absolutely brilliant, as they helped and encouraged me throughout the course. Even at times when I felt I wasn't doing well, the tutors were sympathetic and assisted me to work through my lessons. They responded to my queries quickly and always gave constructive feedback for my work.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is thinking of going into a medical secretarial field.

I completed an Executive PA course with Lewis College.

The course was very in depth and having started a PA role whilst completing the course this allowed me to expand my knowlegde further and study alongside a busy PA role. A couple of units did not necessarily relate to my current role (petty cash and letters) but if I was to to change company then this may differ and I would have more confidence in what to do.

Tutors are super helpful and understand throughout.

Would recommend if looking to start a PA career or develop your skills further.

I studied the Level 3 Executive PA Diploma with Lewis college and the college provided me with informative and very supportive Tutors who help you through the course of your choice. The in depth units help you to develop a growing skill set and I am exceptionally happy with the contents of the course I chose, as well as the supportive help from my knowledgable tutors. I do recommend Lewis College to anyone and everyone looking to study with flexibility, remotely but with the same support you would receive in a face to face setting.

Towards the end of my course, I was promoted at work to Senior Administrator and the skills I learnt throughout my course came in ever so handy as I was able to transfer and apply them in my new role.

When I decided to join Lewis College to earn a Medical Secretary Diploma, I didn't know what to expect. But once I started my lessons, I knew it was going to go well. From day 1, the instructors fully and completely put me at ease with their warm welcome and thorough explanation of the course.
They were there to help and guide me at every step, with regular emails and correspondence. I could freely ask them anything and there would be solution to every issue.
The content of the course, study materials, online information and creditability of the college is of stellar quality and well approved. All the staff members who were involved in my course work are well qualified and knowledgeable in their respective fields.

I have recently finished an Office Admin Diploma with Lewis College and I cannot recommend them enough. The work was fun to do, although challenging. The tutors were extremely helpful and always there for any questions I had, big or small! Whilst working full time and being a mum and wife, I did need to put in the time on evenings and weekends, however this was definitely worth it. The course took me roughly ten months to complete, but can be completed sooner.
I had no knowledge on this subject or any computer skills at all when starting this course, so it is definitely beginner friendly. This course has helped me to feel more confident moving forward with a change in career planned in the future.

If you are considering this course, then I fully recommend you give it a go.

I have attended the Advanced IT Diploma course to enhance my Office application skills. Despite having a good foundation and having used some of the software for work previously, I learned a lot. The tutors I interacted with were very helpful. The materials are clear and provide many examples to delve deeper into the topics. This summer, I completed an Executive assistant on-line diploma course at Lewis college. I would recommend it to anyone keen to start a career in executive support. The course was hard work and quite intensive in view of assessment preparation. I had to put many hours of hard work in the evenings and at weekends, having a full-time day job. However, it was all worth it! The tutors were very helpful and always available to provide a guidance or advice. The course covered many interesting topics that helped me to improve my existing (little) knowledge and skills I had about executive support. The College uses an on-line hub to access the course modules that is very easy to use and navigate. Supporting learning materials available were clearly written and provided in-depth information on the topics. I was very keen on many modules, especially the ones that covered IT topics and Leadership skills. Completing the course was a big achievement for me and having a diploma helped me to secure my new role. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone keen to take up higher education course.

Medical Secretary Diploma Level 3 - finally completed. : ). It took me a bit longer - 22 months - to finish the course due to personal circumstances. I decided to extend it as I wanted to finish all units. I really enjoyed online course, I liked flexibility, and studying at your own pace. At times was challenging, but worth the effort. : )
All units are well designed. The Medical Terminology unit very interesting. All IT units helped me to improve my computer and IT skills. The units regarding secretarial work and communication skills, and techniques I found it very useful on a daily basis.
I have really learned a lot from this course.

The tutors were very supportive, responding quickly with a constructive feedback, and available via Zoom. A very Big Thank you to Simon and Rebecca for being supportive, encouraging and patient.

I highly recommend Lewis College for its outstanding Medical Secretary Diploma. The course is very thorough and extremely interesting. I have improved my general IT skills and learnt many useful skills specific to medical secretary work. All exams can be taken at home which is really convenient. Some units include diary management, PowerPoint, Excel, writing medical letters and audio typing. I enjoyed every unit, the medical terminology was fascinating. The tutors are exceptional, give really useful feedback and couldn't be friendlier. If you want to study this course from home, you couldn't find anywhere better.

When I signed up for the Executive PA course with Lewis College, I had 15 years of experience as a PA but had simply trained on the job. I figured that while I was unemployed, I could keep myself occupied while earning a qualification to support my many years of experience. It provided me with the flexibility that I needed to study while taking care of my family.

The Executive PA course was outstanding. Content was extensive and covered a wide range of skills required for the role. Student portal was easy to navigate. Coursework was very well presented, easy to follow and equally challenging and engaging. Assignments are well thought out, clearly presented, and helped to prepare me for the assessments. Tutors were pleasant to converse with and responded very quickly to any questions I had. They provided excellent constructive feedback ensuring that I was able to complete my assessments to a high standard. I do not think that I could have been anymore supported than I was, had I been sat in a classroom.

I would highly recommend Lewis College to new and existing PAs alike.
